A FAMILY TRAJECTORY

Ribas Arquitectos comes from a family history in construction for more than 150 years. In the 60s, Francisco Ribas founded the Ribas y Cia Arquitectos office together with the architect and faculty partner, José Luis Cia.

In 1995, Damián Ribas – son of Francisco Ribas – joined this tandem, forming the studio of Francisco and Damián Ribas Arquitectos. At present, Damián Ribas has taken the reins of this family project, which has more than 1000 projects executed.

Although specialized in residential construction, both single-family and multi-family, the office has also made important sports facilities, well-known hotels, clinics and offices. The architecture tries to be a reflection of the way of life of its owners as well as being part of the environment, by means of integrated volumes in the topography and the use of the typical materials of the area.

Emphasizing the contrast between light and shadow and intermediate spaces,  the interior and exterior always present the continuity that requires inhabit the landscape; whether urban, Mediterranean, rural or high mountain.

DAMIÁN RIBAS

Has graduated as Architect in 1995 by the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB).

After a stint in the studio of Jaume Bach and Gabriel Mora, he teamed up with Francisco Ribas to form the studio Ribas Arquitectos, which he runs solo today.

For him, the knowledge of the end user, the environment in which it is going to be built, as well as the influence of the culture and local building, are fundamental to determine the final architecture.
